Mayo Scissors

Heavy scissors available in multiple varieties. Straight scissors are used for cutting suture (“suture scissors”), while curved scissors are used for cutting heavy tissue (e.g., fascia).

Mayo scissors have semi-blunt ends, a feature that distinguishes them from most other surgical scissors

Straight bladed Mayo scissors are designed for cutting body tissue near the surface of a wound. As straight bladed Mayo scissors are used for cutting sutures, they are also referred to as "suture scissors".
Curved-bladed Mayo scissors allow deeper penetration into they wound than the type with straight blades. The curved style of scissors used to cut thick tissues such as those found in the uterus, muscles, breast, and foot. Mayo scissors used for dissection are placed in this the tips are closed. The scissors are then opened so that the tips open and spread out the tissue during the dissection process.

Metzenbaum Scissors

Lighter scissors used for cutting delicate tissue (e.g., heart) and for blunt dissection. Also called “Metz” in practice.

Metzenbaum scissors are designed for dissection. They provide a high degree of precision to guide the surgeon and perfect the incision with great comfort. Thanks to their long and thin blades, these scissors are recommended for deep incisions or in areas with limited access. They are very interesting for cutting vessels after ligation or small nerves.

Pott’s Scissors

Fine scissors used for creating incisions in blood vessels.

Iris Scissor is a specialized instrument that was originally used to dissect the delicate tissues of the eye during ocular surgeries. It is now commonly preferred by surgeons for sharp dissection of sensitive tissue in Neuro, Plastic, and general surgeries.

Especially includes a variety of curved configurations as well as straight variant. These provide the surgeon with the optimum instrument for dissection. Moreover, the different angles help to increase access to tissues around tight corners.
